As the IDE prepares for the forthcoming Season 2 of their Webby-nominated podcast, IDE Impolite Conversation, Dr. Lezli, Chief Curator of The IDE revisits Season 1 with members of the culinary community who will share their thoughts on select episodes. Dr. Kelley Fanto Deetz, author of the critically acclaimed book "Bound to the Fire: How Virginia’s Enslaved Cooks Helped Invent American Cuisine" will join Dr. Lezli and share her thoughts on Episode #21: What Is Historical Nostalgia and Episode #23: The Myth of Southern Hospitality. Dr. Deetz will share her reaction to the episodes that explore the racist origins of the term "southern hospitality" and how this "regional virtue" became central to United States' cultural memory and identity. and why historical nostalgia is such a powerful tool. Dr. Lezli will be streaming from Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours. Their Executive Chef Robert Butts will close out with a demo.
