Founded in 2009 in Melbourne, Australia by husband and wife Nolan and Shari Hirte, Proud Mary helped launch the Australian coffee movement and has become the leading authentic Australian coffee brand globally.

Pioneering what is now known internationally as the Australian Café Model, Proud Mary set new global standards in the sourcing and servicing of outstanding coffee products alongside world class food.

By uniting great coffee, breakfast and lunch with genuine heart-felt service, the company has set the bar for cafe hospitality world-wide. From all day breakfast, freshly squeezed juices, coffee roasted in house, handmade pasta, cakes made in house, table service and of course specialty coffee - customers could have it all!

The coffee program offered at Proud Mary is second to none. Our aim is to make a positive social change in the world through meaningful, personal relationships with coffee producers.

Proud Mary’s Green Coffee Team sources amazing coffee through well- established long -term relationships with farmers around the world, from Central and South America to Africa. Year after year, we work tirelessly to improve not only the quality of the coffee, but also to elevate the livelihood of these people in the process.

Our coffee producers are true friends and our role is to share their stories with you, and bringing out the best the coffee-producing world has offer. We feel this ‘true flavor’, along with a little bit of magic in every bean, is where we at Proud Mary shine. Proud Mary has become a household name in Australia with a brand that is recognized at an international level. With huge success in Australia, and a small population with an over-supply of cafes, Nolan and his wife/co-founder Shari, decided to take the Melbourne Cafe Model they helped to pioneer abroad.

In 2017 Proud Mary expanded internationally by opening it’s first cafe in the epicenter of American Coffee Culture, beautiful Portland, OR. Since then, our first US flagship cafe and wholesale roastery, has proven to be a stand out in a world-class coffee destination, food and beverage town.
