Epic Cheeseburger Pizza
The Burger-Pizza mash-up of your dreams.
Ingredients
FOR THE DOUGH
2 ¼ cups bread flour
¾ teaspoon granulated sugar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon instant yeast
1 ½ teaspoons olive oil
¾ cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
FOR THE PIZZA
½ pound ground beef (85/15)
½ teaspoon granulated garlic
½ teaspoon granulated onion
¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup minced onion
1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
Thousand Island Dressing (recipe below)
Thinly sliced pickles
½ teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Cornmeal for pizza wheel
Preparation
FOR THE PIZZA DOUGH
Prepare the pizza dough 1 day ahead of time. Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk to combine. Add olive oil and water. Mix with hands until well combined. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead a few times by hand until a smooth ball is formed. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl covered with plastic wrap in the fridge. Allow the dough to rise in the fridge for 1 day or up to 4. Remove from refrigerator and shape into a ball. Allow the dough to rest at room temperature for at least 2 hours before forming.
FOR THE PIZZA
*Optional* Place pizza stone in a cold oven.
Preheat oven to 500 degrees (or 480 convection if your oven doesn’t go that high).
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef in the pan. When meat is starting to brown, season with salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and garlic. Continue browning in the pan. Turn off the heat and set aside.
Form the pizza dough into a large circle. Place on top of the pizza wheel with a little bit of cornmeal, alternatively place pizza dough in a round pizza pan. Top pizza dough with shredded cheese. Using a slotted spoon, spoon seasoned ground beef over the top of the cheese. Top with a little bit of minced onion.
Slide the pizza off the pizza wheel onto the pizza stone or place the pizza in the oven and bake until golden brown and crispy, about 12-15 minutes.
Remove from oven, and slice into 8 pizza slices. Top the pizza slices with shredded iceberg lettuce, pickles, and toasted sesame seeds. Serve with Heineken Silver for the ultimate balance of flavors!
THOUSAND ISLAND DRESSING
½ cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons minced onion
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
1 heaping tablespoon ketchup
½ teaspoon white vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
In a small bowl combine all ingredients and mix to combine.
