Ingredients
1 head of cauliflower
1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option)
1 cup plant-based milk (such as almond milk or soy milk)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to your desired level of spiciness)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank's RedHot or your preferred brand)
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon coconut aminos
1 tablespoon tahini
2 tablespoons melted vegan butter or olive oil
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Wash the cauliflower head and cut it into bite-sized florets, discarding the tough stem.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, plant-based milk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir until you have a smooth batter.
Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, coating it evenly, and shake off any excess. Place the coated florets on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
Bake the cauliflower wings in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until they become golden brown and crispy.
While the florets are baking, mix the hot sauce, sesame oil, aminos, tahini and melted vegan butter or olive oil in a bowl.
Once the cauliflower wings are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Then, toss them in the hot sauce mixture, making sure each wing is coated evenly.
Serve the crispy spicy cauliflower wings with your favorite dipping sauce, such as vegan ranch or blue cheese dressing, and enjoy!
These cauliflower wings are a flavorful and satisfying appetizer or snack that can be enjoyed by both vegetarians and vegans. Adjust the spiciness level according to your preference, and feel free to experiment with different seasonings to make them your own.
