Behind the Scenes of Juneteenth Jubilee Dinner

The brainchild of Lucille’s Hospitality Group’s Chef Dawn Burrell — a 2020 James Beard Award Semi-Finalist and Bravo Top Chef Season 18 Finalist — the Juneteenth Jubilee is a multi-course culinary celebration amplifying the idea of food and freedom throughout the African Diaspora in commemoration of Juneteenth. Stationed in Texas, the birthplace of Juneteenth, Burrell channels the ethos of the now federal holiday alongside a rotating line up of all-star chef friends as well as Black growers, purveyors, winemakers, and distillers. One hundred percent of the Jubilee’s proceeds benefit Lucille’s 1913, the hospitality group’s namesake non-profit that uses the power of food to provide Houston’s most vulnerable with sustainable livelihoods.
